The Weekend in Review - April 25, 2022

2007/08 Boys- A great weekend that saw the boys play their first ever EDP game as a team, which resulted in a 2-0 win at Stoneybrook Field! Josh Sundar opened the scoring in the first half after a jumble in the box to score the first goal in team history for the newly created NJFC team! Not too long later, a foul just inside the attacking half gave Justin Bonilla the opportunity to hit a strike from super long range to put the boys up 2-0 at halftime. The second half would see the opponents, Clarkstown SC (New York), put a ton of pressure on the defense, but would come away goalless- with Christian Espinoza grabbing a clean sheet after saving a penalty he gave up as well! A good luck shoutout to the team as they begin what will hopefully be a long journey in their first season!

2005/06 Boys- A tale of two games this weekend as the boys hosted Unisamba FC (Paterson, NJ) and Spanish American Football Academy (New York) in their EDP matches. The first match saw a sleepy NJFC team drop a 3-0 result to a technically gifted Unisamba team. In the second match of the weekend, the boys turned things around with a 4-0 result in a comfortable match. The match saw a plethora of chances go just wide and off the post, but a great second half performance saw the points come to North Jersey FC. The 05/06 boys currently sit on three wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss on the season. The 4 goals this weekend were scored by Brandon Urrea, Piotr Widerysnki, Atticus LaFargue, and Abel Castillo. Victor Ciach was in net for both matches.

2004 Boys- A single match for the 2004 boys this weekend as they welcomed Hunterdon FC (Hunterdon County, NJ) on Sunday night. The match quickly landed in favor of the NJFC boys as they grabbed an early lead that they would keep and extend to a 5-1 victory by the final whistle. The goals for NJFC came courtesy of Johhny Roe, Chris Lopez, Mateo Guevara, Mikey Robinson, and Sebastian Giraldo. The boys sit on three wins, one draw, and one loss on the season in EDP play.

2003 Girls- Coming off a midweek match against FC Berna (Bernards, NJ) , which saw a goal from Sam Dammers, the girls continued their State Cup run with an exciting 3-2 win over Jersey Knights (Soemrset, NJ). The cup game victory was a strong team effort and now sees the girls advance to the Semi-Finals of the competition. The goals in the victory came from Alyssa DeVita, Brianna Fasoli, and Sam Dakake. The girls currently sit on two wins and one draw in their EDP league. The girls will play their Semi-Final this Sunday at home under the lights in what is sure to be a thriller!

Teams not in action this weekend: 2003 Boys. 2009/10 Girls, 2004 Girls
